I have just been informed about this new Three Hares sculpture in this lovely wooden archway in Banbury in Oxfordshire, this is created by Philip Bews & Diane Gorvin. Here is a bit about it :- This is the second standalone sculpture of the 'Settlement' series, on ground overlying a deserted medieval village. Green oak boughs form a 'Cruck Arch' with a medieval woman's head at the apex. Three bronze hares are fixed into the arch beams and there are two carved bird corbels. On the collar beam is a quote from the Banbury Shepherd and a bronze shoe which historically was incorporated into buildings for good fortune. On the main arch boughs is carved the orientation – W. Two collars around the arch supports feature medieval tile patterns. The arch links to seating with a cat and mouse carved into the post and seat back. On the back of the seat is a carved relief showing medieval pottery, ale, cakes and Banbury cheese.

This brilliant image is certainly spreading, and will soon be as prolific as these wonderful animals!

THE GOLDEN THREE HARES

This is my very latest painting of this magical subject, I have lost count of how many times I have now painted the THREE HARES in so many different ways and styles. This painting I finished during the very last days of 2024. I wonder how many times I shall be painting more hares in 2025! With very best wishes to you all, Eleanor xx
