RED ADMIRAL & COMMA BUTTERFLY

This is a new watercolour of mine showing a Red Admiral and Comma Butterfly enjoying the late flowering Ivy which is a very good food sourse for insects later on in the year and helps the ones that over winter here. So, please spare a thought for these before you go chopping down to much Ivy!

Mythical Moon Hares

I have has so many requests to make this oil painting Mythical Moon Hares into a greetings card, so here it is! I have also had several other new paintings made into cards to add to my range and all of these can be seen in my gallery in Chagford on Dartmoor.

THREE HARES Stained Glass

Now hanging in my Three Hares Gallery in Chagford is this beautiful Stained Glass effect window by Sadie Covenrty, it is based on my Moon Hares design and I think it works really well in glass and looks stunning with the light shining through it. You can commission Sadie to do a window for you!

Warren House Inn

This is the sign above the front door of the famous Warren House Inn on Dartmoor, it is more likely to be three rabbits than hares as the area was where they used to breed rabbits for the tin miners to eat and the Inn has a wonderful rabbit pie on its menue!

ETERNITY TILE

I am delighted with this beautiful hand carved Raku fired tile by Mel Chambers using my design of the Three Hares with my poem around it. "In black and white for all to see moon hares running running free joined by their ears for eternity appearing as six but only three" This tile together with a new collection of Mel's tiles can be seen in my Three Hares Gallery here in Chagford

Mystery of The Three Hares

Here is one of my small oil paintings with a poem written around it inspired by the bosses seen in our churches here on Dartmoor.

I have just spotted another Three Hares very cleverly disguised as a flower on the sign for Amy's Flower Shop here in Chagford on Dartmoor!

Here is another Three Hare image or "Tinners Rabbits" that can be found here in Chagford on the corner of the building in Stannary Place.

MOON OWLS

My latest oil painting, a take on the Three Hares. Around the painting I have painted a view of Chagford Church, Kestor, Haytor and a stone circle on Dartmoor.

Tavistock History Tree

This is part of the lovely ceramic Tree made by Rosie Fierek which gives the history of Tavistock and is near the entrance to the market there. These depict Three Hares which can be seen in Tavistock Church

Mystery of The Three Hares

A new painting & poem of mine inspired by the Three Hares bosses in our churches in Devon. The poem reads:- The stars dust you in their mystery. Your meaning lost in the depths of history. Your image through artists eyes evolved. Your secrets will remain unsolved. The Three Hares of North Bovey

This is my oil painting of St John the Baptist Church in the lovely village of North Bovey on Dartmoor, as you can see I have painted the Three Hares boss which is located in the ceiling of the church exactly as it is. This is one of the 17 churches on my Three Hares Trail and a lovely place to visit.

The Three Hares of Paignton

The Church of St John the Baptist in Paignton has a very fine and beautifully painted Three Hares boss, the church itself is well worth a visit tucked away in an ancient part of Paignton it is made out of the red sandstone of Devon. It is the most southerly church on my trail.

St Mary's, Kelly

This romantic little church is found in the remote village of Kelly which is between Tavistock and Launceston. It is the furthest West on my Three Hares Trail and has one ancient wooden carved boss of the Three Hares and a nice modern copy. It is well worth a visit.

Three Hares of Tavistock

We were over in Tavistock yesterday taking more of my Three Hares Trail leaflets to St Eustachius Church where there is a lovely carved & painted Three Hares Boss as seen above in my painting of the church. More leaflets can be obtained through my gallery in Chagford and the trail is a great thing to do!
